The Opportunity
The Highland Education Foundation is a 501(C) nonprofit organization that seeks to enhance education through community support and grants.
Because they were a new organization, they were looking to increase their awareness in the community and surrounding region.

The Solution
I reviewed existing website content and provided suggestions to improve HEF’s brand communication.
Afterwards, I developed a media plan for the organization that included creating a media list, pitching press releases and feature stories, and developing a crisis communication plan.
Additionally, provided insights into the use of social media and strategies for the organization to implement.

Results
Through the use of media pitching, HEF earned multiple placements throughout the Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana region. This included press releases, feature stories, and event announcements. In total, the estimated reach was 3 million people with print, digital, and radio platforms.
The announcements led to a sold-out event, even after moving to a larger venue.
The event raised more than $10,000 and had over 100 attendees.
